History

The M&P Lab was originally established in the 1920s as Materials and Processes Laboratory to support GE’s Schenectady businesses, power generation and others. The lab played a very important role in the technological developments throughout that period and acquired a world-wide reputation for unmatched excellence in the study, understanding and applications of materials in an enormous variety of devices and equipment of the highest reliability.

We became an independent laboratory in 1986. Our client base has continued to expand and now also includes companies from the defense, aerospace, automotive and medical devices industries, as well as manufacturers of chemicals, high-tech metals, plastics, ceramics, pulp and paper, and structural composites. We have established a reputation as both a complete testing laboratory and an industrial materials consultancy.

In December 2006, The M&P Lab became a wholly-owned subsidiary of CERAM Research, Inc., of Stoke-on-Trent in the United Kingdom. This culminates a four-year strategic marketing collaboration with CERAM and positions us for future growth. We are now able to more effectively serve our markets by drawing on our combined expertise and enhancing our services for both existing and new clients.
