CERAM Completes Acquisition of The M&P
Lab
On December 14, 2006, CERAM Research, Ltd of Stoke-on-Trent, UK completed
its acquisition of The M&P Lab. The acquisition culminated a 4-year
partnership between the two companies, which began as a marketing collaboration
agreement. CERAM has for some years been pursuing a strategy of geographic
diversity, targeted at increasing operational activities, revenues and
earnings in the US. The size of the US economy and the fact that within
the US there are many companies involved with high technology, added-value,
products makes it an attractive area for the types of services that
CERAM, and The M&P Lab, provide.
In driving this strategy forward CERAM’s preferred route has
been to look to acquire an operating company in the USA, with its assets,
human resources, and infrastructure, rather than look to start up on
a greenfield site. The M&P Lab, with its main base in Schenectady,
New York and satellite operation in Greenville, South Carolina offers
CERAM the opportunity it has been seeking. The two companies operate
similar services, with similar types of professional staff delivering
services into largely non-overlapping market sectors. The M&P Lab
will operate as a wholly-owned subsidiary of CERAM.
