New SEM in Schenectady Lab Enhances Capabilities

The M&P Lab announced a significant enhancement to their Schenectady facility with the addition of a new scanning electron microscope (SEM). The new equipment, a Carl Zeiss SMT EVO50XVP, provides excellent results from a versatile analytical microscope with a very large specimen chamber. It can handle 250 mm diameter specimens at the analytical working distance of 8.5 mm, due to the combination of large movement stage, inclined detectors and conical objective lens. It is equipped with EDS (energy-dispersive spectrometry) to obtain qualitative information about the chemical characteristics of a sample, and WDS (wavelength dispersive spectrometry) to obtain precise quantitative analysis. The new equipment has been fully-commissioned and is now in production use.
