Continued advancements in computing capability have enabled
engineers to apply computer-aided design codes to calculate detailed
loadings under various operating scenarios. However, translating
these loadings to product performance is meaningless without the
detailed knowledge of long-term material behavior over the application
range. While data for most conventional materials may be readily
available in textbooks, that’s not the case for today’s
new alloys and composites. Obtaining such data to predict performance
with statistical confidence often requires extensive testing.
The M&P Lab offers facilities and expertise to design and
conduct testing programs for a variety of test types, all within
one facility to ensure a complete and accurate characterization
of material behavior.
